Meeting Negative Beliefs & Feelings on the Mat
 
Learn a Yogic inquiry practice (svadhyaya) for addressing the negative beliefs and feelings associated with depression and anxiety. Your student/client says, “I can’t…” or tears erupt and there’s a story. This LifeForce Yoga Self-Inquiry technique will show you how to dive beneath the story, through the body’s wisdom, to mine the depths of the self-limiting belief and its opposite. Through demo and practicum, you will be able to apply this strategy in your own self-inquiry and in your yoga therapy and teaching practice, balancing mood and releasing beliefs that no longer serve you or your clients. 
 
Learning objectives:
Participants will understand and practice a Yoga strategy to address and shift the negative self-talk often associated with depression and anxiety.
 
Participants will learn and practice an evidence-based breathing technique that elevates mood.
 
Participants will learn and practice an evidence-based breathing technique that calms anxiety.
 
Participants will learn and practice a yogic meditation that balances the opposites of emotion, thereby increasing self-awareness and equanimity.  
 
Participants will learn and practice a yogic guided visualization that balances mood.
