Anne O'Brien
Biography
Anne O’Brien brings the embodied practice of yoga alive for modern practitioners. Practicing since 1989, she experiences and teaches yoga as a vehicle to expand consciousness and optimize physical-mental-spiritual well-being. Balancing a love of movement with precision and alignment, her classes are a beautiful balance of intensity, humor, and grace. She teaches in Northern California, trains teachers in California and Mexico and regularly leads global yoga adventures. Living abroad for years was a treasured opportunity to study with master teachers principally in the Krishnamacharya tradition in Europe, India, Mexico and the US. Influential guides include Giris Rabinovitch, Edward Clark, TKV Desikachar, Dona Holleman, Rodney Yee, Patricia Sullivan, Kofi Busia, and most recently, Brigitte Longueville. She has been in senior management at Yoga Journal, completed a collaborative book with Kofi Busia, Iyengar, the Yoga Master (Shambhala), and has been featured in The Sun newspaper and Yogi Times magazine. Anne is an alumna of UCLA, The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy and is currently completing her MA thesis on yogic arts at Dominican University in San Rafael, California.
